GinnStitches at ArtFire

Happy Sunday!

A quick note here to let you know that I am now on ArtFire! I have a cute new online shop which you can find at www.GinnStitches.ArtFire.com.  I am working on some new items, and plan to keep "stocking the shelves", so please stop by and see what's available.

Today is a sewing/entertaining day, as TheSecondChild is having friends over to hang out, hot tub, and eat. Got the taco stuff all set, and can't wait!

Crafty day... but no new sewing!

I have been wanting to try this for awhile; I chose today to experiment.

I am moderately pleased with the outcome, but I know exactly what I want to do now to improve on them! I really like the soap dispenser idea; there are multiple tutorials all over the web. I looked at the one found on CountryLiving.com.

Saturday...

Today was partially spent on the road, taking our daughter back to the start of her second semester of sophmore year. (sad face) Tomorrow the other daughter goes back to start the second half of junior year. (sad face again) So I had to do some sewing to lighten the mood.

I finished up my Kindle cover. I used a pattern by BirdfulStitches. The pattern was very easy to use, with options for Kindles, Nooks, and iPads, as well as instructions for determining your own sizing. I mixed it up by strip piecing some of my favorite black and white prints, with a touch of red. I love the results! I will definitely be adding these to my Etsy shop. Check out BirdfulStitches on Etsy.

What do you think?

Pillow day

Yesterday, in spite of very little sleep, I was able to complete a few more projects.
Libbi and I had picked out some fabric for new pillows for the living room. We needed some new color in there! I got three of them done yesterday, before collapsing into sleep!

Insomnia...

I'm wide awake. It is nearly 2 a.m., and I feel no sign of sleepiness. Ah, well.

Since I am home tomorrow, I am taking advantage of this time, and am finishing up some projects. I completed another bag today. I was planning to list it in my shop, but I think I am going to keep it. I just love the black and white.

With some of the leftover fabric, I am making a sleeve for my Kindle. I strip pieced my fabric, and I like the results. I will finish this before I go to bed. I wanted to give the pattern a trial before I started making more to sell.

During this awake and alone time, the snow has begun. This has been a very odd winter so far, but we are under a "winter weather advisory" from midnight until Friday morning. Predictions are for a possible 7 inches of snow. I have always loved seeing the new-fallen snow, and it is nice to be able to see this snowfall in the peace of the night.

Here are some shots of the swing bag I finished today... still using the Sonoma Swing pattern by Pink Sand Beach Designs. It really is a great little bag.

Kindle cover pictures tomorrow....

Cancun Clutch!

Friday, I had a fun package in the mail. I won a Cancun Clutch, premade, from Nancy at Pink Sand Beach Designs.  I've been using some of the delightful bag patterns she designs, and they are wonderful. The directions are clear, and the patterns are very cute and make functional and clever bags.
I've not made a Cancun Clutch (yet), but I may need to add it to my repertoire.  It is a zippered clutch with an outside pocket and two pockets inside.  It measures about 13" wide at the top, and is about 7" tall. There is sweet pleating detailing on the outer front pocket; a very nice design elementThe one I received is done in bright, summery pink and orange. (I can definitely picture it in use in Cancun!)
I could also see this done in my current favorite, jewel toned batiks, or in subdued and elegant black or midnight blue and gold for evening.

If you haven't seen Nancy's designs, be sure to visit her website, or her Facebook page. I am also featuring some of her bag designs in my Etsy shop, GinnStitches. Please stop by and visit!
